Mines Strategy: What the Odds Say and How Far to Go

Every Mines video promises a strategy that always wins. The maths disagrees. Here are the real probabilities and the habits that protect your money.

Each tile is riskier than the last: the safe tiles run out while the mines stay. With 5 mines the first tile is safe in 80% of rounds, the tenth in 6%.

Multipliers in the 97% model

You pick the number of mines in the Mines list before the round: 1 to 20.

The multiplier grows exactly as fast as the chance falls, minus 3% for the casino. No mix of mines and tiles beats another: the average return is the same everywhere.

Popular systems and why they fail

  • "Corner tiles are safer." Mines are placed at random; a corner has the same chance as the centre.
  • "Double after a loss." A run of mines drains the bankroll before the win arrives.
  • "Mines follow a pattern." Each round gets a fresh layout that ignores earlier rounds.

What helps

  • Decide in advance how many tiles you will open, and cash out there.
  • Keep each bet a small share of your bankroll.
  • Set a session budget and stop when it is gone.
  • Never raise the stake to win back losses.

Questions and answers

What is the best Mines strategy?

None beats the casino. You can pick a style: 1 to 3 mines for frequent small wins, or 5 to 10 mines for rare big ones.

How many tiles should I open?

With 3 mines about half of the rounds reach the fifth tile. Each further tile lowers the chance.

Are there safe tiles?

No. Mines are placed again at random before every round.
