Mines for Real Money: How to Play

In Mines you choose how much risk to take. The board has 25 tiles with mines hidden under some of them. Every safe tile raises the multiplier, and you can cash out after any move.

What is the Mines game?

Mines grew out of the old Minesweeper. You get a 5×5 grid, set a stake and choose how many mines to hide. More mines push the multiplier up faster and end most rounds sooner.

Open a safe tile and the multiplier grows. Press Cash out and the win goes to your balance. Hit a mine and the stake is gone. The round lasts as long as you decide, which is why players like Mines: no timer, no rocket flying away without you.

The model copies Spribe Mines: a 5×5 board, 1 to 20 mines and a multiplier with a 97% return. We checked it against the official demo: with 3 mines and three stars open the game shows "Next: 1.67x" and the model gives the same 1.67. The balance here is play money only.

Odds: how many tiles you can open

Your chance depends on two numbers: the mines on the board and the tiles you want to open. The table shows the chance to open that many safe tiles in a row:

Mines on the board1 tile3 tiles5 tiles10 tiles
196.0%88.0%80.0%60.0%
388.0%67.0%49.6%19.8%
580.0%49.6%29.2%5.7%
1060.0%19.8%5.7%0.1%

With three mines half of all rounds reach the fifth tile. With ten mines only one round in eighteen gets there.

Multipliers at a 97% return

A fair multiplier is the inverse of the probability, minus the casino's share. Spribe states a 97% return to player for its Mines. This model gives:

Mines on the board1 tile3 tiles5 tiles10 tiles
1x1.01x1.10x1.21x1.62
3x1.10x1.45x1.96x4.90
5x1.21x1.96x3.32x17.16
10x1.62x4.90x17.16x1055.84

These numbers show the model, not the payouts of one specific game. Mines by 1win and Spribe Mines count slightly differently; the Cash out button always shows the exact multiplier.

Questions and answers

Can you play Mines for real money?

Yes. 1win has Spribe Mines in its casino: when you cash out, the win goes to your balance and you can withdraw it through the cashier.

How many mines should I choose?

Your call. With 3 mines the first tile is safe 88% of the time, with 10 mines 60%. More mines mean faster multipliers and more lost rounds.

Is there a way to always win at Mines?

No. The game places the mines at random at the start of each round, and the casino has a built-in edge.

Do Mines signals and bots work?

No. A bot cannot see where the mines are. See the signals page for details.

What is the RTP of Mines?

Spribe states 97% for its Mines. 1win does not publish a figure for its own version.

Can I play Mines on my phone?

Yes, in the mobile browser or the 1win app.
